My Story
Dear ezdate123,
Yes, I have a story to tell. I am a single guy in my forties. When I was recently divorced someone suggested I try an online dating service like this one, only it was a different site. Any way, I was totally new to all this and really wanted to meet someone. I did the usual. I signed up, made my profile and put in a couple of pictures.
I sent letters out to everyone I felt I wanted to meet. I started to get back responses. Also started to get some good dialogue with some of the members in the site. Some of the women had photos and some did not. At this point it didn't really matter, I was just glad to make a connection.
I was having a really good back and forth letter exchange with a lady whos screen name was "daydreamer". She had a nice profile, was in her early forties, but no picture. I was hesitant on asking for a photo of her because I did not want her to think I was only interested in her appearance alone. So we continued talking via the letter system in the dating site.
Soon we became comfortable with each other and exchanged phone numbers. Still I have no picture of her but she has two of me. So during one of the phone conversations I thought I will ask to see how she was doing on placing a picture in her profile. She said she was not to computer savy but was working on getting one in there soon. She sounded nice on the phone and I thought thats cool, she is trying.
Then she volunteers to describe herself to me if that was OK with me. I said sure! She said she was in her early 40's, blonde hair, started to go tanning again, has a new hairdo, and is fairly attractive. In fact she said I would not be dissapointed. but then she also said she was a secretary and like to dress up wearing stockings and heels.
Well by this time I really didn't need a photo of her, I already had a good mental image. All I was thinking was, its time to meet her. She sounds fantastic. Normally I meet a date halfway. She lived over an hour away and I decided that she was worth the drive and I could drive to her town. So I told her I can drive up to her area, just let me know of a nice restuarant and I can meet you there. She said that it would be OK for me to come to her house if that was Ok with me. I thought to myself, this is great! I said sure I can pick you up at your house.
I was also thinking wow this is something I only dream about. Then I tried to be a very nice guy and offered her to change her mind and meet me in a public place for her safety because we have never met. I cant believe I even offered her that option but she insisted that she could tell I was a nice guy and it would be OK for me to come to her house.
Wow that is great. I could not wait to meet her. So the day came and I was on my way. All I could think about was how she described herself. Blonde, tanned, stockings and heels. I was getting close to where she lives. Her house was back in the woods way out in the boonies. I found the driveway, she gave good directions. I drove up to the house and it was pretty beat up and run down but I thought it must be tough for a single woman to keep everything nice.
So I went to the front door and started knocking. I was a little nervous and excited to meet her. I heard a door on the side of the house open and a lady say , " you'll have to come to the side door". I went around to the side and there was a little old lady, very short, bent over, stout and at least 60's, and I figured this must be her mom. She looked at me and said, "I am sooooo glad you could make it" oh my god, this was her. It caught me totally off guard that I was frozen speechless. I was in shock.
Well to make a long story short. I went in her house, sat down and inside me was screaming "you got to get out of here" over and over. She was talking but I did not hear a word she said. I finally got in my car and was so relieved that I was getting out of there and heading home. I learned a valuable lesson that day. Never meet someone without seeing a photo first!
So now when someone wants to meet me without sending a pic I just tell my little story. This is a true story, but you will never know how shocked I felt that someone would lie that much about themselves. This hasn't stopped me from using an online dating service. It just made me a little more experienced on how I meet someone online. I have met some wonderful people here. But from that day on I need a photo. Live and learn!

This was my first time using a date service like this. I am in my forties and recently divorced. I did write a profile and put up one picture. I did not find my match but I am enjoying the email part of this site. I can see where this could work out. I just wanted to say thanks for the free trial.
